Explosive Detection
K9 Bronx, a black Labrador Retriever, came from North Carolina and began his career with the Montgomery County Police Canine unit at the the age of 12 months and was assigned to handler Officer Jeffrey Brewer. Following an initial 16 weeks of extensive training that included being imprinted on 26 different explosive related odors, K9 Bronx certified as the only single purpose explosive detection K9 on the department. In addition to conducting countless explosive scans throughout his career, K9 Bronx was also well known for his numerous appearances at K9 demonstrations at events such as National Night Out and school career days.
K9 Bronx was a member of the United States Police Canine Association where he competed in numerous K9 Detection trials and achieved many certifications over the years. K9 Bronx faithfully served the department for 9 years before retiring.
Although K9 Bronx has had a few medical related scares and multiple surgeries while living his retired life, he is currently doing well and enjoying retirement at just over 14 years of age. Although he is starting to slow down a bit, during the summer he spends most of his time swimming in his pool and playing fetch with his toys.
