MCPD K9 Heroes- Supporting Their Retirement

The Montgomery County Police Foundation is proud to support the MCPD K-9 Unit, whose highly trained police canines serve alongside their handlers to protect our community every day. These remarkable teams assist with locating missing persons, tracking suspects, detecting narcotics and explosives, recovering evidence, and responding to critical incidents throughout Montgomery County.
After years of dedicated service, retired police canines typically remain with their handlers, who become responsible for the cost of their ongoing care. As these dogs age, they often require specialized veterinary treatment, medications, surgeries, rehabilitation, prescription diets, supplements, and other medical needs that can become increasingly expensive.
The Montgomery County Police Foundation helps ease that burden by providing financial assistance for retired K-9s, helping cover expenses such as veterinary bills, specialized food, medications, and other essential care. This support allows handlers to focus on giving their retired partners the healthy, comfortable retirement they have earned after a lifetime of service.
These extraordinary dogs dedicate their lives to protecting our officers and our community. Through donor support, the Montgomery County Police Foundation is honored to give back by helping ensure they receive the care, dignity, and recognition they deserve throughout their retirement. Every contribution to the K-9 program supports those who have faithfully completed their service.
